High Winds

Yesterday was a nice and windy day.  Discovery Sea Kayaks was forced to cancel our Day Tour. Guess we could have found a place to tuck in and hide but that really is not the experience people are looking for when they come to the San Juan's to kayak.  I took a bit of time to drive out and see the wind and how it was treating the water.  The day started with strong 30 knot SE winds and shifted in the late afternoon to gust of 40 knots from the SW.  I did not get a chance to get out and do any personal kayaking as it is important to not go out alone in this type of condition and I could not find anyone to go out with.  But I have a few photos for everyone to enjoy.  Photo simply do not capture the energy of the sea.  The sound of the wind blowing salt and sand through the air.  It is a full sensory experience to sit at the waters edge and feel, smell, hear and taste all the energy.

Later in the day I drove to Deadman Bay where on a calm day we eat lunch on our Day Tour.  It was nice and bumpy.  For those who have been to Deadman Bay on a nice summer day, this will look nothing like what you have seen.

Below is a deer that was hiding in the grass as I made my way back to my car.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the images.  Fall is here on the island and not much is going on.  I will keep posting images and I hope to get a small group of friends on the water soon.  So keep coming back and checking for new info and pictures.

I don't think I have even seen Deadman's like that.
